Having done three RicNic shows in Hampshire, I have no doubt that the 'RicNic experience' is not one to miss...but how to convey this to a whole new audience in a city where the RicNic name is unknown? Well, it's been a challenge. Had I not been as convinced as I am with how brilliantly unique RicNic is in its concepts and ethos, I would have struggled.
Fortunately, through our determination and refusal to hear the word 'no', we have been able to gain the support of several key people. We have now got rehearsal space, a theatre and young people interested in RicNic, and and I have to pinch my arm to remind myself that it is happening - we will open this summer!
The production team comprising of Jamie, John and I (with the help and advice of RicNic HQ) have decided on ‘Oklahoma!’ as this year's musical, and we are all committed to ensuring this is as successful as the other RicNic branches have been.
Jamie and I will begin the auditions next week, with a little help from our friends, and I cannot wait to see what RicNic Bristol can produce in August.
